On the day he is to receive his first Pokmon, Ash wakes in a panic, having overslept. Professor Oak, the local Pokmon researcher, has already given away the three Pokmon Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle he entrusts to new Pokmon Trainers when Ash finally reaches Oaks Lab. The only Pokmon that he has left is a Pikachu, that he gives to Ash. Determined to make it on his journey, Ash does his best to befriend Pikachu, but it does not trust him and will not even return to its PokBall, even attacking Ash with its unique electric powers. It is only after Ash protects Pikachu from a group of angry Spearow that Pikachu realizes how much Ash cares, leading it to save Ash. Afterwards, they both see a mysterious and unidentifiable Pokmon that spurs both of them to work towards Ashs goal. Along the way, Ash makes many human and Pokmon friends as he works his way through the ranks of the worlds many Pokmon Leagues. Through the Kanto Region, Ash befriends Water Pokmon trainer and erstwhile Cerulean City Gym Leader Misty Kasumi and Pewter City Gym Leader and Pokmon Breeder Brock Takeshi, and all the while thwarting the plans of the Team Rocket trio Jessie, James, and Meowth, who want to steal Ashs Pikachu and any other rare Pokmon they come across. When the group travels to the Orange Islands, Brock decides to stay with the local professor, leaving Ash and Misty to continue travelling together. After a while, they meet and begin traveling with Pokmon Watcher and artist Tracey Sketchit Kenji. Once the trip is completed, Brock rejoins the group as they travel back to Kanto. Once they reach Pallet Town, Tracey decides to stay with Professor Oak. With this news, the trio continues on their way to the Johto region. When Ash heads for the Hoenn Region in the Advanced Generation series, Misty stays behind to become the full time Cerulean City Gym Leader. However, Brock follows him to Hoenn and he gains new companions in Pokmon Coordinator May Haruka and her younger brother Max Masato, and together they face off against the rival teams, Team Magma and Team Aqua. After returning to Kanto and participating in the Battle Frontier challenge, Ash battles with his rival, Gary. After seeing a Pokmon he has never seen before, Ash decides to travel to the Sinnoh region. After winning all eight Unova badges, Ash, Iris, and Cilan travel throughout the eastern side of Unova to prepare for the Unova Pokmon League Tournament, after which they meet N, who is instrumental in defeating Team Plasma. After this, Ash, Iris, and Cilan travel through the Decolore Islands before Ash makes his way back to Pallet Town and the meet the investigative reporter Alexa Pansy who is from the distant Kalos Region. Having arrived back in Kanto, Iris and Cilan travel to Johto whilst Ash and Alexa head to Kalos soon after Ash reunites with his mother and receiving a new outfit from her. In the XY series, Ash and Alexa arrive in the Kalos region and Ash is itching to get started in earning his Gym badges. But after Alexa informs Ash that her sister, a Gym Leader, is currently absent, Ash travels to Lumiose City where he meets boy genius Clemont Citron and his younger sister Bonnie Eureka, unaware that Clemont is, in fact, Lumiose Citys Gym Leader a fact he tries his best to hide. Ash also reunites with Serena, a girl from Vaniville Town whom Ash had met in his childhood at Professor Oaks Summer Camp in Pallet Town. During that time he helped her during a predicament, and she has had feelings for him since that time. After traveling with them to prepare for the Kalos Pokmon League Tournament, Ash competes and advances all the way to the final, where he loses to Alain Alan, a member of Team Flare due to them misleading him. Once he discovers their true intentions, however, Alain reforms and joins Ash and his friends to stop Team Flares plans. Bidding farewell to his friends in Kalos, Ash once again returns to Pallet. In the Sun Moon series, Ash, his mother and Mimey, their Mr. Mime, are on vacation in the Alola region when Ash has an encounter with one of the local guardian Pokmon, who presents him with the Z Ring, a device that, when paired with a special crystal, allows a Pokmon to unleash a powerful move when synchronized with its trainer. In another trailer, it is shown that Giratina can travel through dimensions by a strange purple wind that look like streaks of power. Giratinas dimension called the Reverse World is shown in a trailer as a bottomless foggy place with floating islands, covered with strange green materials like moss or grass. In one of the teaser trailers it was said that the battle of time and space is not over yet, implying a direct connection to the previous film. The final poster for the film does not contain images of either Dialga or Palkia, although Dialga is shown battling Giratina in a trailer released in March 2. The Origin Forme of Giratina is shown on the final poster with the tagline Pokmon will follow the new light. In a new trailer released on April 1. Shaymin is able to communicate by telepathy, and it befriends the group. In the same trailer, it shows Shaymin glowing while floating in the air. Just recently it was confirmed in the June Issue of Coro. Coro that its new form is actually a Sky Forme. People who bring their Pokmon Diamond and Pearl games and Nintendo DS to theatrical showings of the film are able to download a level 5. Shaymin to their game cartridge via wireless connection. After the fateful events of Pokmon The Rise of Darkrai, Shaymin, a flower like legendary Pokmon, is drawn into a battle between Dialga and Giratina, who drags both Shaymin and Dialga into the Reverse World. A frightened Shaymin uses her powers to escape through a portal back to the normal world, Dialga following after he disables Giratinas ability to venture to Earth by trapping it in an infinite time loop. The battle is witnessed by Newton Graceland, a specialist on the Reverse World, and by the films antagonist Zero. Shaymin survives, ending up in a beautiful seaside town Bergen where it runs into Ash Ketchum, Dawn, Brock and their Pokmon, causing mayhem whilst trying to steal Ashs lunch. Shaken by its experience, Shaymin falls ill but healed at the local Pokmon Center. Ash is frustrated by its pompous attitude, but he and his friends agree to take Shaymin to the Flower Garden, so it and others of its kind can migrate and grow a new garden where they go, through a process called flower bearing. Team Rocket appear and try to run off with Shaymin, only for a portal to the Reverse World to open and swallow them, Shaymin, Ash, Pikachu, Dawn and Piplup. In the Reverse World, the kids encounter Giratina but are rescued by Newton, who explains the distorted world is an alternate dimension which reflects Earth, and he was trapped in the dimension five years ago whilst studying it. The balance between time, space and the Reversed World was damaged during Dialga and Palkias fight in the previous film. Giratina targets Shaymin, angry that it helped Dialga escape from it, prompting Newton to send the kids and Pokmon back to Earth, but Team Rocket are too slow to follow. Zero, seeking Shaymins power, attacks the kids with his army of Magnemite, Magneton and Magnezone, forcing them to escape onto a departing train. The kids befriend several train passengers, Shaymin making contact with a Gracidea flower and transforms into its Sky Form, altering its appearance to a deer like state and allowing it to fly. Zeros Pokmon attack, but Shaymin, Pikachu and Piplup blast them out of the train. The kids board a ferry heading to the mountain where the Shaymin live, but are sucked into the Reverse World again, followed by Zero and his Pokmon. Giratina attacks the group after Shaymin provokes it before transforming back to its normal form, Newton and Team Rocket saving the kids. Zero appears, reveals he was Newtons assistant, and plans to use Shaymins powers to open a portal for Giratina to return to Earth. Shaymin panics, opening a portal and sends everyone, save Team Rocket, back to Earth to Shaymins home. Freed from the time loop, Giratina is captured by Zero, who is using a device to absorb its abilities. The device was originally built by Newton, but he cancelled the project upon learning that the device would kill Giratina. Zero uses the device with the intention of becoming ruler of the Reverse World and destroying Earth.
